The Hall of Fame: Seven Spectacular Logos

What makes a spectacular logo? Lots of things, but here are just a few things that a logo should reflect:

1. Simple

Simplicity doesn’t guarantee remembrance, but it is certainly much easier for people to remember and identify.

2. Scalable

Whether your logo is small or big, it should look fantastic and be completely recognizable.

 3. Memorable / Impactful

Try to make a positive impression. Some companies do this through “hidden messages”, like FedEx. Some do it through style. It’s up to you (and your designer) how to make that impact.

 4. Versatile

A great logo should look equally good on any web device and on any kind of print material.

 5. Relevant

Sometimes our passions get in the way of our practicality and we choose things that are not quite appropriate for our businesses. While this works on occasion, it doesn’t much now in the age of digital competition.

Check out the following logos while you keep these tips for spectacular logos in mind. How many do you recognize? Some are a little more obvious than others, but “Sony” wouldn’t be “Sony” unless it was that font.
